    Default canon 7d

I have at present canon 50d and I am thinking of upgrading to a 7d. I see quite a lot of forum members now own these and have been using them for a while so do you think it is worth upgrading to the 7d? Rosco.

I don't use one Rosco but I think it will be a definite improvement on the 50D

Hi Ross, I've recently upgraded to the 7D, however I came across from the Olympus camp. I absolutely love the 7D, the auto focus system is amazing, once you get the hang of it. I can't specifically help you with your query about an upgrade from a 50D, but this link might assist: http://www.google.com.au/search?q=upgrade+50d+to+7d

I recently upgraded to a 5D2 from a 7D and after doing that I hardly use my 7D any more.

Having said that though, the 7D has much better ergonomics. the 5D2 feels quite outdated by comparison and I hope the next generation 5D has the controls exactly like the 7D. The one area where I still use my 7D is for birds. It's permanently attached to my 400/5.6 and I love using it for bird photography. Whether it's worth it coming from a 50D is hard to say, I never used one. My first DSLR was a 7D. I borrowed an early rebel from my wife before that. The thing I like most about my 7D is the control over the auto focusing system. The built in levels are great too but probably unnecessary for birding.

Hi Ross, I have the 7d and love it. If you have the $$$ and you want to go to an even higher level go for the 1DMK4, I was lucky enough to use one of these lately and it makes the 7d look silly!! Faster by a mile and very little noise up to iso 3200. You won't be disappointed with a 7d if that is your budget, I'm sorry I ever had a go with the Mk 4!! Jack.

I've used the 7D before and it would be miles ahead of any xxD body.
