One thing I will add, I'm not sure about the custom bird title part of the respective choices. IMO it would be better to allow custom titles, whatever they may be.

Its a birding site Adam so we will probably stick with a bird themed custom title I think.

I chose undecided, because I'm not a fan of ranks for websites however I like custom user titles so it's more a case of none of the options suit my preference.

At the end of the day the member's comments and their comments' relevance/usefulness will mean far more than titles.

Titles are cool... mainly used as a tag line. They don't give 'status' as such so go for it.
On AP we limit to 50posts/30days membership before allowing a custom title - but that's it.

Kym's hit the nail on the head, they're not about giving members any status or a measure of a member's input to the site, they're purely for fun!

Personally, I like the idea of titles - brings the element of fun into the forum; most forums have user titles these days. Looking at current results, looks like I don't share the same view as others

Actually Dale, looks like the consensus overall is that a title system should be initiated. Only 37% of members don't want a title system compared with nearly 60% who do with "wingspan" being the favoured choice. The poll is a little misleading in that way but overall, looks like titles/ranks is going to win outright.

I guess we could let those who've posted enough to get to the "choose your own" stage choose to have no title?
