Default WEEKLY THEME GALLERY 10/4/11 "INTERESTING BEHAVIOUR"

Yes, I know....we missed another week. Sorry about that, had a busy one this week with a workshop on Saturday and a speech to PhotoBOCA on the Monday so things were a bit hectic for me.
This week I'd like to see any little bits of interesting bird behaviour you have captured. Look forward to seeing what you guys and girls have in your archives.

This one was a bit of tug of war between two Spoonbills. Fun to watch thats for sure.

White-faced Robin (Tregellasia leucops) photographed on 1/12/2009 Iron Range NP. This little fellow was sunbathing in was midday and very hot! It almost looks like he is using the mango leaf as camo....

This would have to be the epitome of clumsiness young Australian Gannet about to go into his dive, they may look clumsy but boy can they SWIM...... and of course he is facing the wrong way

Anybody see the new John West commercial about the Tuna.... It is an absolute bloody cracker

    Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita)

Taken on 31/1/2011 at Wangi Wangi NR NSW.

I think he thought he was a Riflebird, he was flying with about 20 mates, I was thinking he was a escapee or maybe just a nutcase.

Eastern Reef Egret (heron) Ardea (Egrette) sacra. These two (part of a family (?) party of 4) stopped to have a quick play (?) with a stick (much like Pauls Spoonbills), then dropped it and went on thier way.

This is Henry, "my" tame Australian Kestrel regurgitating a pellet that mostly seems to have contained insect carapaces etc. I wish I didn't have stacked converters for this shot, but just took it anyway. BTW, this is a full frame image!

Surrounded by the Townsville Towncommon these guys are a real hazard on the Rowes Bay Golf Course. Last weekend I counted at least 20 (mixed crows and ravens I think) sitting in the trees around the golf course, it looked as if they were just waiting.....Do they think they are eggs or is it just mischief.
Taken back in '08 with the FZ30.

Watching this Olive-backed Oriole sunbaking in January was really quite interesting. It would place itself side on to the sun, stretch a wing out and open it's bill. Occassionally it would swap sides and do it again.

One of the bravest little birds in the bush is the willie wagtail. This brave soul was repeatedly swooping this brown goshawk at close range and even perched on his back on occasion as the goshawk called its annoyance. All it wanted to do was eat its mousey dinner!

    Default Kite Under Attack

This juvenile Whistling Kite ( I think) was surrounded by Blue Faced HE as he sat high on his perch keeping a very watchful eye below on the four that are just out of shot .

Sorry it has taken me 3 goes to realise why it was coming up in the wrong Forum each time
