Hmmm - seems I missed out on first by 25 species... oh well Are there other awards like biggest dip, rarest bird, etc being awarded? Maybe I'll be able to win one of them...

EDIT: Wait a second - didn't you say you got rained out Heyn? If it wasn't raining you probably would have beaten everyone by a long way

    EDIT
Sorry Lucky - just got another result and i have made a complete list for everyone! Sorry also Heyn as you have been nudged out of the top 3 and Ashy is now 3rd place.

Firstly - thanks to all who participated in the 2010 Birding Oz Phototwitch!
I think we have all the results in but please let me know if there is anyone that isn't in the list! Also i don't have the species list for all of the participants either so if you could please forward your lists that would be great so that we can judge rarest bird.

So here are the preliminary results based purely on the numbers that have been submitted by the participants. Once we have all the images from the top few to make sure, we will confirm. However i don't really expect that any of our members are not judging themselves fairly.
List = # of species and participant.

    90 - Pictorella
    88 - Rob89 (updated)
    80 - Ashy Drongo
    72 - Heyn
    67 - Arron
    66 - wingsonwire
    65 - Joshua
    57 - Richard Hall
    53 - feral1
    52 - Lucky
    43 - Jennywren
    41 - Harlz (updated)
    37 - Colonel Boris

A few notable mentions in there to Josh who only travelled 10km, and Colonel Boris and Jennywren who only used public transport and had small children with them!! Massive effort i reckon!

There will be another thread for people to put forward their 3 best images for judging the 2010 Best Phototwitch Image!

    Thanks again everyone!
    Cheers, Dave

What about you Dave, didn't you compete? (David Stowe that is)

I'm pretty amazed at my result. Of course, now my shots have to be judged, and there's almost no doubt they'll be the worst quality that the judges will have to look through. I had only a little Point and Shoot, so the shots are not that crash hot (my Azure Kingfisher being a prime example )

When we submit the shots, are we allowed to do any Photoshop (lighten, sharpen etc), or are we allowed to do some really basic work (recrop to make the bird bigger in the frame). And how do we enter the minor prizes, assuming they happen? (biggest dip, rarest bird)

Ashy - yes normal PP work is fine and cropping to just the bird is perfect. (it will make it easier to be honest).

Biggest Dip - we need people to tell us what they thought - not everyone has yet.
same with Rarest Bird - we need to see everyones full lists, but feel free to nominate what you think.

I did pretty well but have decided to keep my total out of the running as I tagged along with Grant and Rob. I was just grateful to get out birding for the day and Grant showed me some great spots that i wouldn't have known about without him.
    Cheers, Dave
