Default WEEKLY THEME GALLERY 12/12/10 "ROBINS"

Great to see a few of your images from the phototwitch, looks like it was a very successful event in terms of photography as well as bird watching.
This week we celebrate the Robin family whom I am missing at the moment. They stayed a little longer this year with all the rain but its a duller place without these little beauties around.

Another Red-capped Robin... probably my favourite bird species of them all and this is one of my very favourite photos I've ever taken too. I can't resist taking photos of Red-cappeds when I'm out in the bush.

Scarlet Robin Petroica multicolor (i think booyang? sub species) from Dryandra Woodland campground earlier this year.
I have had trouble with these guys, mainly because they respond poorly to call-playback, in that they tend to fly higher and more erratically. Maybe if i had a bigger lens.... hmmmmm

Anyway, this one wasn't a result of call-playback, it was a semi-tame one in the Dryandra campground that I stalked one morning. Sure theres a bit of shadow across his chest, but I don't mind it too much. He wasn't singing when I snapped this, he was coughing up a big ball of chitinous gunk. Charming!
