Default WEEKLY THEME GALLERY 10/10/10 "BIRDS IN HABITAT"

This weeks theme will be "Birds in Habitat", sometimes a challenge getting the balance right between the two. Would be great to see an image which you define as a bird in habitat shot so post away.

I guess habitats can be as varied almost as there birds, so we should see quite a diversity this week.

Predictably this is my offering to this weeks themes. A Red Knot with on an exposed rocky marine reserve.

A male Southern Cassowary with one of his four chicks emerging from their lowland rainforest home in Wet Tropics - one of those unforgettable moments that Australia decided to please me with, many, many thanks for that...

I was fortunate to have some really close-up views of an unusually trusting bird a couple of years ago.

A spotted pardalote and his mate use this gum sappling before entering their nest, on exiting it is straight up high every time... they are very cautious when entering at all times but on exit they are like a little bullet... each has a favourite perch on the sappling, which i have been contemplating removing the odd leaf or two.... won't happen, i just keep my distance and watch them go about their buisness, which for me is a joy on it's own...
