    Default Green-backed Gerygone

    Species
    Common Name- Green-backed Gerygone
    Scientific Name- Gerygone chloronota

    Date- 28 Sep 2017

    Location- East Point, Darwin, NT

    Camera Details
    Brand/Model- Canon 5D mkIV
    Lens- 600mm f/4L IS II USM+1.4xIII

    Camera Settings
    ISO- 800
    F-Stop- f/8.0
    Shutter Speed- 1/125
    Exposure Bias/Metering/Flash- --

    Technique- tripod

    Attraction Aides-

Post Production- Cropping to 3400 LS. Using Lightroom, Selective exposure adjustment with brush, adjustments to WB, Contrast, Clarity, Vibrance, saturation. Sharpen and N/R in Lightroom CC

Notes- I am pretty sure that this is a Green-backed Gerygone but happy to be corrected if necessary by my better informed colleagues here. I chose a photo to illustrate what I understand to be the diagnostic features - grey crown and face, olive upper parts and white underparts and of course a red eye. Clearly, not a bird that leaps out at you and from my limited searching, not a bird that appears to have troubled the scorers in this forum on F&P previously. The GBG is reasonably common through the coastal areas of the Top-end and into PNG. I personally find the F&P database to be an incredibly valuable resource (thankyou F&P team for providing a properly curated set of images) and I hope it will be helpful to someone in the future to have a photo of one of these in the database.

Well done Alec, I'm another never having seen this species. I find most gerygones difficult subjects as they're always on the move. Looks like you were lucky to get this one in the clear, I like the way the OOF foliage frames the bird.

Well done Alec. Great setting. Perhaps a little motion blur at 1/125, but still very nice to look at and great to have documented so well.

Yet another bird I didn't see while up north in July!

    A great Gerygone capture, Alec!

Tis a nice effort Alec! Agree with Patrick it's got the tiniest bit of motion blur... but not enough to really distract too much

Not one I've seen posted before Alec - good job for such a restless species
