    Default Hide & seek

Had this Grebe do something I've never seen before today. Was taking some shots from a decent distance away when the bird noticed me and swam over to a branch in the water (in doing so halfed the distance between us) and proceeded to try and hide behind it.

Got several frames in, sitting still the bird popped it's head up but as soon as it heard the shutter it ducked back down again.

Now that's certainly something I've never seen either, Johan. Usually they just swim away or dive if they think someone is too close.

That is unusual! Seen plenty of them do the dive, but not this behaviour. Maybe because some cover was close by?
