Default WEEKLY THEME GALLERY 16/5/10 "FLOCKS OF A FEATHER"

Hope we did the feral birds proud last week. They need a bit of recognition every now and then. Noticed that nobody posted a Common Myna I guess nobody likes those birds do they
This week it is all about "flocks". The more birds in the flock the better, the person with the most birds in their image wins a giant novelty plastic moustache comb And to give you all a chance, don't worry I won't repost my wader flock shot from wader week

These Silver Gulls (Larus novaehollandiae) were just milling about biding their time in one of the ponds at the treatment plant. None of them seemed to be feeding just swimming in circles....perhaps it was some kind of Silver Gull singles party

I took this image 3 weeks ago. I had been trying to get an image of all 19 birds in the one spot at the same time, but this was proving very impossible as the birds dont always move collectively together. So when I heard a Sooty behind me I whirled and snapped away like mad. It wasn't till I got home and counted the birds in the image that I realised that I had gotten all 19 in shot!

Shelly Beach (on the back of the Townsville Towncommon) only access by boat or an hours walk from Bald Rock Car-park.

Various flocks, pity there is not another pelican...

    Black Kites.

I think the collective noun for this many is "abloodylot". Taken at Holmes Jungle, Darwin, a few years ago.
    Cheers,
