Default Solo PhotoTwitch - 87 species 8 hours

I went out today to repeat the route I followed on the PhotoTwitch. No rain to speak of, though again it was overcast and poor light. I initially thought getting 100 species would be easy, but it was a slow morning and a lot of the species I counted on just didnt show.

Again, the really odd thing is what I didnt get. No rainbow lorrikeet or sulphur crested cockatoo, even though these must be the most common species around our home !

    here's the list. 87 species.
    cheers

I think these were the best birds. Not good shots I know, but record shots. I have the camera set up for record shots and its not practical to convert to quality shots even when the opportunity presents itself.

    brush cuckoo and spotless crake

I don't know Arron!! Sharpen that Crake shot a bit more and I think you've got a winner of a shot there.

Was the crake at the "triangle pond"?

Nice work on the 87. I'm on leave and done with exams in 9 days time, so i might try my route again with better weather and see how I go.

Yup, triangle pond. Everyone's favourite crake.
Shame its not a nice private spot where you could set up a hide and wait.

Great effort! Brush Cuckoo is a crippler.
Dont think I'll get another crack at a proper 8hr twitch before Christmas but fingers crossed.

Seems to be a lot of brush cuckoos at Mitchell and Cattai Parks at the moment. Unusual.

Great shots and a great effort Arron! Love the shots - although I couldn't see Spotless Crake on your list?? Did you see Australian Crake as well or is this a typo?
Thanks for the tip on Brush Cuckoo too. Not sure if i will be able to get out there any time soon but have only seen these guys a couple of times.
