    Default Macleay's Honeyeater

I have more Golden-shouldered Parrots, but thought I don't wanna overpost them and so I decided to show an image of another cool bird we came across. The conditions you find these birds in are dark rainforests, so shooting was a real challenge, but we got lucky and found one spot where we had a decent background. This is such a beautiful Honeyeater!

Lovely shot yet again Jan. The colours came out nicely due to good flashwork.
    Cheers, Owen.

Another beauty, Jan! They are unique honeyeaters - I have to drive 4 hours north to see them, but it's always worth the trip

Awesome plumage and markings on this species.
I kinda wish the entire bird fell within the DOF realm but understand that was near impossible given the conditions. I think I'd be tempted to crop the lower leaves that are sneaking into the frame.
In saying that I think this is still the most delightful Macleay's I've ever seen by far

I guess one of the challenges of a setup is even though you are supplying a platform for the bird to sit you can't control precisely where the bird will choose to perch.
Totally respect your decision to present it as is

yes, that's the biggest challenge of them all. Predicting were they land. You can certainly influence it, but sometimes the bird just does not want to do what you want, although here it kinda landed in the perfect spot.

It's basically full frame as presented
