    Default The Final Salute

Sad to see so many of these birds (Mutton Bird- Puffinus tenuirostris?) washed up on Moruya Beach, Nov 2010.

In our desire to capture their beauty, we possibly forget the hazards all birds face in life, and the sometimes less than glorious/attractive ways that they can die. RIP

    Brilliant.
I like the low angle of view, the fact that the water appears to be along way from the corpse, the clouds, the resting position of the bird and the way you've put it all together.

Is that sea weed or a scrunched up wing feather poking out to the right of the wing? I wish it wasn't there

Well seen & portrayed. I see seabird corpses nearly everyday of the week & rarely stop to think about it.

    Thanks Guys,

This photo has won me a very nice Camera Bag and also a Tripod.

Yes Chris, it's seaweed - point taken - I hadn't even noticed it.

    Cheers

    Congrats.

A little shift to the left would not only have removed the seaweed but obtained all the wings shadow in the image too.
