Default 2009 PhotoTwitch results here please

Thats right folks. This is the place for your results posts.
Remember, no photos needed, just a simple list with latin name and common name. Preferably in taxonomic order (same as your field guide will do. If you want to include the locality that would be good too.

Any comments you may want to make about the day will be welcome too.

    Example

    Tyto alba Barn owl Windsor
    Philomen citregularis Little friarbird Kurnell
Cracitus torquatus Grey butcherbird Bicentennial park
    ...
    ...

    Cheers
    It was a fun day

Firstly I'd like to thank Arron for organising today, it was great fun and a real eye opener. Unfortunetly due to constant rain I had to cut my twitch short, finishing at midday after 5 hours. I'm very pleased with my total considering I didn't make it east of Maitland and only visited one body of water.
All up I photographed 85 species and recorded 112 in the 5hrs. Sorry Arron but I ain't doing scientific names for all those species.
Cant wait to see the other results.

If anyone wants a birdlist, in taxo order, e-mail me and I'll send you one. Its in Excel format, so you can just tick the ones you saw, sort, delete the rest, then convert to text and post.

68 photographed, 112 seen. I would change things around by probably not bothering with Boat Harbour, spending more time at the Royal, and not (foolishly) trying to cross Sydney to get to site #3. I wanted to get to 3 other spots in the Royal but ran out of time, and yeah... could've made some wiser choices with location. Weather didn't help either.

I got 74. Again, shame about the weather. My route was first to Cattai National Park (which was buzzing) for a good start, then to Mitchell Park where the rain set in. I went home via Pitt Town Bottoms, then spent a couple of hours at home waiting for the rain to stop. In the afternoon it was Mason Park (very few waders) and then Bicentennial Park.

A fun day and with good weather I think you could easily do 100 species on this route.

    cheers

I woke up today to pea-soup (typical mountains weather) my plan was to start late and stay in the upper Blue Mountains (Wentworth Falls - Blackheath) So.. 9:30am start with about 2.5 hours spent sitting int he car waiting for the rain to stop I called it a day about 3:30pm, 2 hours early.

Was great fun, thank's to Arron for getting the ball rolling, I'd like to see this run annually from now on, who know's next year we might be able to raise some money for a good cause.

Congrats to all so far for the good results. Weather was a pain on the East coast but at least you all got out of the house for a while So did people find it harder than they expected?

Definitely an annual event I think. With a bit of publicity through bird groups across the country, who knows where it could go.

If I book it in early enough I might be able to play on the next one

Where are you wingsonwire? Don't let us Victorians down!
Surely you went to the Werribee Poo farm in yesterdays 37 degree heat.
Bet you picked up at least 100, too hot for us but there is always next year.

    Hi Guys

TOTAL: 71 Photographed and positively identified 80, missed quite a few due to my lack of being able to get the camera on the bird quick enough and not getting a good enough look at them to identify properly.

actually, I found it much easier then expected. I thought I'd be pushing it to get 50, but I had 46ish by mid-morning before the rain set in. It does make me think that you could get 100 fairly easily in the 8 hours if you had good weather - no rain but not too hot.

Nice work everyone. Some great birds seen, and hopefulyl next time there'll be even more participants. Probably best to co-ordinate the date so it doesn't clash with the victorian (or any other) twitchathon.

I rekon the same - if the weather was better, I could've smashed the 68. Next year I'm going to stay in the Royal and visit Kurnell for some extras, rather than start there.

    Now I know.
