Default viewing photos with dvd player.

recently i thought it was a great idea to view my images on the new tv screen by plugging cd/thumb drive into the (cheap) dvd player. the dvd player died in its second week of service, as did the replacement. have i killed the dvd player by doing this?

We've never had much luck with the cheap dvd players. While ours didn't die quite so quickly, I shouldn't think there's any reason to believe plugging in a thumb drive would kill it.

Can;t imagine that this is what has killed it. I would be getting my money back and not bothering with another one!
Does your tv have a usb input?

I can't give any reasons as to why the dvd player might have died... although, was it a cd, or a dvd that you put in the drive?

My sister came up with a great idea for viewing photos on a tv. She hooked up a laptop and basically used the tv as a huge monitor Worked a treat!

Can't imagine that would be the problem. As others have mentioned, if your TV has a usb input, you may be able to put your thumb drive in that and view as a slide show as I do on my Sony Bravia - looks very good too, and you can add music.

We've recently bought a new caravan & have installed a Kogan 19'' 12 volt LCD TV. The TV has an inbuilt DVD player plus a camera memory card reader. Only cost us $159 postage free. Kogan also make larger screened 240 volt TV's with the same features, great value!

You won't have killed the player doing that, QC on cheap products is pretty low, they are mostly thrown if they are returned as they are not worth spending time fixing. I'd be asking for a refund if it has broken the second time.
