    Default 5D-X/MK3

So the rumours are firming up for the new 5D camera from Canon. These are the specs. http://www.canonrumors.com/2012/02/t...2728-2012-cr3/

    • 22mp
    • 6.9fps
    • 61pt AF
    • 100% VF
    • 3.2″ LCD
    • Dual CF/SD Card Slots
    • Price: Around $3500 USD
    • Announcement on February 27 or 28, 2012 (Depending where you are on earth)
Anyone think this would be any good for birding? Seems to have a pro AF system and pretty goof FPS. It is also supposed to have some ISO performance increase as well. Guess they only problem is the price, pretty expensive and will probably be well over $4000 AUS. Of course these are only rumours at this point.

Duade, you've seen what Paul can produce with the original 5D. I'm sure the 5D?(with those specs) would be a very capable camera for nature photography. Especially with improved AF and FPS.

Yeah probably be pretty good Duade given the specs......but at this price a second hand 1DMK4 could be had ?
    Just a thought.
I'm a little biased though think it just might be how a 1D series feels in hand, I could probably give you a go one day and you may just be converted.

Yeah, its interesting, I wonder which camera Canon thinks is going to challenge the D800 from Nikon. I think the 1DX will be a pretty cool camera, but expensive!

Certainly looks good to me. I'm very happy that they haven't tried to "keep up" with Nikon in the megapixel race. Much rather see better image quality and noise etc than just bigger files. Interesting that 25600ISO is now within the native range. 6FPS is really pretty good too. I think it will be a great all round camera. Perfect for weddings of course but i think it could be put to good use for birds too.
    Cheers, Dave

B&H have a RRP of 3499 USD (body only).

And we Aussies get ripped once again.

I was just about to get a 7D body but this is now very tempting.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the higher sensitivity full frame sensor of the 5Dmk3 vs the APS-C sized sensor of teh 7D in terms of reach/cropping for wildlife photography etc? I may not have phrased that question very well but I think you will get where Im coming from ....

Digi direct have it for 3872, which if you work it out is not much different than shipping in from B&H 3499/1.08 + $100 shipping x 1.1 for GST plus about $50 to $100 in clearance charges. Comes to $3773. Clearance will only be that low if you clear it yourself and it is shipped US Post. If you ship it UPS they slug you quite a bit. Your credit card will also slug you some money for Forex and B&H have limits on credit card charges as well.

That price is for direct shipment from a Singapore affiliate, they claim no hidden charges, wonder how the GST is paid when it clears customs on the way in? Pick up price is the same as digi direct give or take a few $.
