Default Index of species images on this forum

Hi Administrators. Please disregard if this if it has already beeen covered and accept my apologies for not searching better.

This forum contains heaps of the most beautiful Aust bird images I have seen anywhere. There is a search tool in the upper right corner, which I have tried to use to find particular images with only limited success. IMO it would be really nice if there was an index showing what species images have been been posted in the forum and an easy way to view them.

Maybe something along the lines of the Boles/Christidis check list with asterisks against species for which there are images and maybe a button that will take you to them?

    Cheers

Totally agree Richard - a great idea but it sounds a big job if it is possible'

Whilst we are on site matters - is there nowhere on the site anymore where you can view a list of members?

    cheers

The advanced search page (there's also a click-able link below the tool in the upper right corner) should be adequate for locating any species you're looking for in the image forums. You can set multiple search parameters to narrow your search down to return more relevant results.

It's simply not feasible to manually create and maintain an index of every single photo thread uploaded by every member and link it to a list of species. The software used on the site is forum software and as such is designed for community-based discussion and not for creating and maintaining a database of images.

The newly-introduced FeatherWiki has a section on Australian Birds that we're hoping members will contribute to, and thus it will grow into a content-rich resource of information on Australian Birds complete with multiple images showing sex differences, plumage differences etc etc.

Under Community in the subnavbar there's a Member List option.

Thanks for the info Richard. I just did a search in Titles using the scientific name instead of tags and got what I was after first hit.
