Default WEEKLY THEME GALLERY 5/12/11 "Devils in the details"

This weeks gallery theme is all about fine detail and ultra close images. Sometimes possible with captive birds and on some occasions (like the bird pictured) with wild birds.

The Penguin below was found exhausted on a beach on the surf coast after rough seas. A quick once over looking for any obvious injuries and a quick few photos (30 seconds worth) and I left the bird alone to recover and hopefully returned to the sea that night.

Just in case the rain doesn't allow me to go and take something even more targeted at this weeks theme, an Australian Brush-Turkey Alectura lathami. A bit of a crop taken from an already tight portrait.

Over the past couple of days one of a pair of young Blackbirds that have grown up in my backyard has started to become very bold, which is most un-blackbird-like. Just a feral I know, but it's very cute and it now follows me around and takes mealworms from my hand.
