Default Image of the Week 8/8/2011

Well done to Rob Drummond this week for his Regent Parrot image. Interesting that this is the first vertical format image to win this year. Special mention to Geoff Gates Hooded Plover flight image also (another vertical presentation).

That is an awesome image and a most worthy winner! Still haven't seen one despite visiting their known range many a time now.

Fantastic image Rob & a very worthy winner, congratulations. We saw them at Hattah & Wyperfeld last month, a repeat sighting from last year. At Lake Hattah campground, every late afternoon while we were cooking our BBQ dinner, enjoying a glass of red, a group of around 30 of them would pass through over our camp. Some of them would break their journey & perch in a dead old River Redgum on our site. What an awesome sight lit up by the setting Sun! Your image reflects the beauty of this species perfectly in our opinion.
